Morocco Tourism
Some 7.5 million foreign visitors annually visit Morocco (2007 figure). This figure includes the Moroccans in the diaspora visiting family during the holidays, but the number of tourists experiencing very strong growth (+13% compared to 2006). Tourism is the leading foreign exchange earner, ahead of financial transfers from Moroccans abroad and sales of phosphates.

Tourism in all seasons: the main asset of southern Morocco is to attract tourists in
winter as in summer. Egypt,
the other major medium-haul destination
of winter tourism is very hot in summer, when the
ocean moderates the climate of
strong Moroccan coast. Another paradox of Morocco
is to offer the opportunity to ski in the morning and swim in the hotel pool in
the afternoon in the shade of palm
trees. The ski slope of the Atlas is only two hour’s drive from Marrakech. Marrakech has
become in a few years the real
capital of Moroccan tourism point
of eclipsing Agadir notoriety. Real estate tourism
is booming.
The symposium industry grew quickly. The
vast imperial metropolis has
become the symbol of easy expatriation cheap for
some luxurious for those who come
just to spend the weekend, as once we went to Venice. The city has
become a rendezvous for the jet-set
as a very popular
destination. Read: Djemaa el Fna square in
Marrakech's famous A totally Francophone
population (in tourist areas) and particularly warm, roads good qualities,
hotels, and large quantities of all types. Few political risks and
limited crime ... is the main asset of
Morocco.
A recommended trip for individual countries,
although few tourists there
are still likely, especially in the
north, abandoned by foreigners.
A rich legacy architecture
various dynasties that have made the history of Morocco is one of the attractions of the country. But it can also be a source of frustration for the tourists who are mostly
just pictures of their guide for the architectural
treasures of the country. Most
famous monuments are religious (mosques, madrasas, mausoleums
...) access is forbidden
to non-Muslims since a decree dating from the time of ... Lyautey. The Muslim architecture is not externalized
and west, all wealth is usually hidden from view from the street. We advice
tourists keen on Islamic
architecture instead go visit the Great Mosque of
Damascus or Istanbul's Blue
Mosque of trying to
see, the hidden, inside the famous Karaouiyine
Fez. As madrasas
were restored, they are one after the other, closed
to visitors ... That said, Greece
without its monuments remain
exciting to travel the country as Morocco and perhaps even
more, because the extraordinary life remaining in its medinas and
craftsmanship that is produced
there.
Sport
and adventure
Sahara, especially from Ouarzazzate beginning to
compete for its offer in Marrakech
two-hour drive, Zagora is becoming the starting
point for camel ... A full tourism growth
(which takes advantage of the quasi closure of Algeria
to tourists for 10 years). "Paradise" of the golfer is
another picture (a bit outdated) of Morocco had sought to promote the
former King Hassan II. A luxury, certainly excessive
for Morocco regularly afflicted by drought.
The Morocco
off the beaten path: Tangier, all
nostalgic, the Mediterranean coast to
mingle with Moroccan tourists, mountains of the Rif (the country kif, local variant of hashish)
and her jewels like
the small town of Chefchaouen, so Mykonos mountains (and
before tourism) ...
