Travel by Air if you go in summer; remember to
book your flight at least two months in advance. Air France and Turkish
Airlines provide two to three daily flights between Paris and Istanbul, in just
over three hours. Many other airlines serve the destination on scheduled
flights and charter, with or without stop. Several companies provide charter
flights to Turkey; Bookers Elsewhere Last minute ... For charters, always
remember to confirm your return flight at least 48 hours in advance. In summer,
direct connections between major French cities and Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara
are ensured. Floor price for a start in early May: 270 Euros. XL Airways France
serves the Antalya International Airport, south-west Turkey. European airlines
cheap also service the second airport in Istanbul, Sabiha Gokcen. By train there
is no direct connection Paris-Istanbul. You have to go through Budapest, where
you take your correspondence. SNCF offers links Paris-Budapest for about 250 Euros.
Allow about 17 h roads. The Istanbul Express is a daily train that sets the
city of Munich 46h. Those who have a budget can stretch travel on the legendary
Orient Express (Paris-Budapest-Bucharest-Istanbul). A long and expensive trip,
but already an adventure ... By car / coach's journey of some 3,000 km seems
quite tricky road, at least to take the Euro lines coach who once a week
between Paris and Istanbul via Belgrade and Sofia. By bus or car, you go
through the east (by Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria) or south
(to go to Italy to Venice, and then take a ferry up Turkey - boats only during
the summer), you will put at least 3 days in Paris to reach the Turkey! Boat
can be reached by boat from Turkey to Italy or Greece and sail with you your
vehicle with A Ferry companies or Direct ferries. Local transport By plane You
can get from one city to another by plane at attractive prices, with Turkish
Airlines, or small low-cost airlines like flayer, Pegasus, Onur Air, Pegasus
Airlines and Atlases. It takes approximately 100 TL (42.50 Euros) for a trip
Ankara-Istanbul. Train a network of 8,500 km of railways connecting major
cities, but it is slow and obsolete: you put 8am on Istanbul-Ankara; 11 am for
the Istanbul-Izmir-Ankara 14:30 Izmir. You can visit the website of TCDD rail
network. In rather prefer the bus, which is a means of transportation used in
Turkey, fast and cheap bus. The service is available throughout the country by
private companies. Each city is provided with a "otogar" (bus
station). Allow about 5 TL (2.10 Euros) per hour. For large distances trips,
buses frequently drive at night. For short trips, you will take the
"dolmus" (minibuses). The main companies are Varan, Kamil Koç,
Ulusoy, Metro and Pamukkale. Taxi if you want to take a taxi, make sure it is
well equipped with a taximeter and see if the computer is started. There is no
fee for day and night. Turkish taxis are painted yellow; you cannot miss them!
By car, you can rent a car there. Many companies offer vehicles; National
company Ekan, the French agency Auto Escape or international agencies such as
Avis, Budget, Euro car and Hertz. The prices are about the same as in Europe,
or even slightly higher: around 40 to 70 Euros per day and between 250 and 300 Euros
for a week. But beware of the mechanical condition of the vehicles, which can
vary depending on the lease. The speed is limited to 50 km / h in the city and
90 km / h road principle, but the reality is somewhat different ... Feel free
to adopt local use: the honking!
